  1. Traditional diets of Jewish people consists of Kosher foods. Are people other than Jewish people allowed to enjoy Kosher foods? Of course anyone can. Kosher food is not limited to a certain race. Kosher food is not limited to people who are of Jewish descent but is also appropriate for those who are on a specific diet.

I think there is a misunderstanding of what kosher foods are. Many people would be surprised at the variety of food that is kosher. The traditional idea of kosher food being limited to bagels and lox or matzaball soup or pickles is a fallacy. In fact in new york you will see an array of kosher dining from mexican (minus the cheese) to chinese (minus the shellfish and fish that don't have fins and scales to italian (dairy restaurant OR meat restaurant) to ....as Jews as all around the world we have adapted the kosher rules to our local cuisine. I highly suggest going to www.eichlers.com and typing in kosher to get a book on the subject. Jews were commanded by G-d to refrain from certain foods. We don't eat bugs - therefore our fruits/veggies must be checked and bugs can not be used as colorings for them either. We don't eat blood- therefore our eggs must be checked and our meat/chicken soaked and salted. Our animals must be schechted and have the lungs checked (lungs checked = glatt).
Of course meat/poultry and milk/dairy products can not be in the same meal. fish and meat can't be on the same plate. cheese and fish can't be on the same plate. The list goes on from there. Many people who are not Jewish enjoy eating kosher foods as because there is another person overseeing the quality it is often better. Kosher meat doesn't have mad cow disease as cows that are sick are not kosher. People who have issues with milk/dairy products enjoy the fact that pareve foods and certainly those marked as meat foods do not have dairy ingredients. A top kosher restaurant will often have many non-jews eating there because the food tastes
      great !
